NON-BASIC BENEFITS OF USING A CONTENT CALENDAR

Elevator

“Organization is key to any successful social media strategy” said literally everyone who has worked in the industry ever.

So, what’s the key that unlocks that organization? According to our social media experts here at ELEVATOR, the answer is simple: a content calendar.

I know, that seems like the obvious answer since calendars help you plan and planning is usually good. However, it’s when breaking down the functions content calendars actually perform we can see the true and important opportunities they do provide for those who utilize them, and could provide for those who don’t. Thanks to our Social Media Manager Tristan Ferri, we were able to boil these functions down to two key concepts that compliment each other better than Instagram and Influencer Marketing.

1. It will help you be more strategic.

“Whenever I first create a content calendar – I look at National Days, Weeks and Months as well as any holidays that might be relevant for my accounts. For example, National Whisky Day is a conversation I, as Fireball, would like to always be a part of.”

2. It will save you a lot of time.

Knowing what could be going live – and only needing a quick glance to do so – is super helpful when brainstorming and generating a week, day or even month’s worth of content.

Since you already know what’s going live and when, you give yourself more time to have interactions with your followers, create meaningful content or jump into time sensitive opportunities on your desired platform.

That’s a lot of success based on two key concepts. So, how do you manage such an important tool? Morgan McGuire, PR Coordinator & Copywriter at ELEVATOR, shared her go-to applications that she uses to create and manage her content calendars.

“Primarily I use Sprout Social for content planning, scheduling and analytics across all social media platforms. For sharing and editing the social media calendar with clients, I prefer to use Google Sheets due to its universal design”.

“Organization allows for a high quality and consistent social media presence, and content calendars are the life-blood of any properly managed social platform” said the coolest social media experts ever, Morgan & Tristan.
